Houses are allotted to students at the beginning of their session in Class IV. They receive their House badges too. Pupils generally remain in the same Houses throughout their school life.
Inter-House competitions are held throughout the year. These generate a spirit of healthy
competition and feelings of loyalty and mutual support among Pointers. Prizes are given out to
individual winners and points awarded to their respective Houses. The House that earns the
maximum number of points throughout the year is awarded the Champion’s Trophy at the School’s Annual Function, while the House with the second highest points gets the Runner-up Trophy.
Each House is under the charge of a Housemaster/mistress and an Assistant Housemaster/mistress who form a link among all pupils of their House. They select participants from their House for the various events. They also ensure that pupils identify themselves completely with their respective Houses.
The School Head Boy and Head Girl and the Captains, Vice Captains and Prefects from the six Houses are given badges during an elaborate Investiture Ceremony where they take an oath to help maintain an atmosphere of friendly cooperation, peace and discipline in School. The children are also introduced to their Housemasters/mistresses during this Ceremony.
Children from Classes IV to XII unite under their respective House banners. They support and encourage every student’s performance in the competitions. Each pupil contributes significantly to the team spirit, and success of one is a success for all in the House.
